Betty Jane East, 85, of LaBelle, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, at her home with her family by her side.   Betty was born in New London, Missouri, and attended high school in Hannibal, Missouri.

She was a resident of LaBelle, Texas, for 40 years and retired from BFI in 2001 after 21 years of service.  She is probably best known for her partnership with her husband in his trucking company based out of their home in LaBelle.   Betty was well known for always having a cup of coffee ready for anyone who walked through her door.   She loved cooking for all her kids and grandkids, especially her amazing sugar cookies.   When her kids would visit she always made sure they went through her pantry and picked out their favorite homemade canned items.   Her proficiency with lists and post it notes was legendary among all that knew her.

Survivors include one son, Stephen Graham, and wife, Marjory; five daughters: Jane Funk; Kathy Cormier and husband, Carey Cormier; Jennifer Graham; Donna Marcotte and husband, Dwight Marcotte; Carla East and fiancé John Nairn; sisters Dora Moseley and Ruth Fletcher; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband, Carl East, and her sister, Louise Leake.
