Lamar State College Port Arthur was down 11 players for Tuesday’s softball doubleheader at Baton Rouge Community College.

The 11 were suspended following a March 22 incident involving players from LSCPA and LSU Eunice. LSCPA athletic director Scott Street announced the sanctions in a Monday news release that also included findings of an investigation into the incident. Street and his staff conducted the investigation.

None of the suspended players were named. Lamar State split the two games with Baton Rouge.

Members of LSU Eunice’s team traveled to Port Arthur to confront some of LSCPA’s players off-campus, according to the findings. The two teams played a doubleheader in Eunice on March 21, which Eunice swept 8-4 and 6-4.

It was not announced what precipitated the conflict. LSCPA officials declined further comment.

Eunice is located 63 miles northeast of Lake Charles and 39 miles northeast of Lafayette.

No charges were filed with local law enforcement authorities, LSCPA officials announced. The 11 Seahawks who were suspended must serve a collective 40 hours of community service, according to the release.

LSU Eunice announced Tuesday that three softball players and one student who wasn’t an athlete were suspended from the university. The lengths of the suspensions were not divulged.

Twelve other softball players and two women’s basketball players for the Bengals drew disciplinary action that included a two-game suspension and 100 hours of collective community service.

The LSCPA suspensions were announced six days after sophomore shortstop Savana Guidry of Nederland was named the Fastpitch News NJCAA Player of the Week.

Lamar State will play at home Friday against Coastal Bend College in a doubleheader that starts at 1 p.m. That will be followed by another home double dip against Laredo Community College on Saturday that begins at 2 p.m.
