John Carl “Mutt” Batiste, 93, of Port Arthur, Texas died a Mid-Jefferson Hospital on Monday, March 6, 2017. John was born in Port Arthur, TX to Morris Batiste and Geneva Baker Batiste on February 12, 1924.

Following graduation, John entered the U.S. Navy, an in 1954 he married Luverda “Iodine” Thomas and enjoyed 62 years of life together. John worked for Gulf Oil Refinery and retired after 39 years of service.

Left to hold close to their hearts, his wife Luverda, daughters, Brenda Coleman, Carla Guidry, Ashley Harris, grand daughters, Hope Green (Brian), April Flugence (Joseph), great grandson, Brian McCullouch, niece, Madline Brown (Lawrence II), nephews, Donald K. Dautrive, Oliver Price, Jr. (Vicki), grand nephews, Oliver Price III, Kenneth Price (Jennifer), and a host of relative and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at Hannah Funeral Home Chapel. Viewing will begin at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Thurman Bartie officiating. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Park. Services entrusted to Hannah Funeral Home, Inc.
