HOUSTON — The Toyota Center will now be Texas Southern’s home court for a day … or two.

Joyce Kennerson scored 29 points to lead all scorers late Tuesday in Texas Southern’s 65-45 home-court win over Prairie View A&M in the first-round of the SWAC women’s basketball tournament. Texas Southern (21-9), the second seed in the eight-team tourney, will take on Alabama State at 6 p.m. Friday at the home of the Houston Rockets. Alabama State edged Arkansas-Pine Bluff 48-46 in Montgomery.

Should the Tigers win that, they will play, the championship game will be played Saturday at the Toyota Center at a time to be announced.
