Seahawks stunned in regular-season finale

After winning four in a row, Lamar State College Port Arthur has fallen into another tough portion of the schedule.

The Seahawks lost by one basket for sixth time this season, suffering a 75-74 defeat to Coastal Bend College to close the regular season. Lamar State (17-12, 7-12 in Region XIV) won’t play again until Tuesday at the Region XIV tournament in Jacksonville, with the opponent to be determined.

The loss also marks the third time in four games since that four-game streak the Seahawks have lost. It came at the hand of Coastal Bend, which got 22 points and nine rebounds form Willie Rooks.

Petar Radojicic scored 24 points and 11 rebounds, Tra Grubbs had 12 points and 11 boards, Cam Frank sank 11 points and Akol Deng totaled 10 for the Seahawks.

Coastal Bend improved to 8-16 and 3-15 with the victory.

LSCPA was tied for fourth in the South Division with Blinn College at 7-11 in region play.
