There were some promotions, retirements and certifications made on Tuesday afternoon at the Port Arthur Police Department.

Chief Patrick Melvin obtained his Texas Peace Officer certification and he’s now officially chief of the department.

 

Sgt. Chris Billiot was promoted to sergeant. He has been with the PAPD since 1994.

Det. Mark Holmes retired from the PAPD after 33 years of service. He will be an investigator with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
