ROBERTS GOING INTO MUSEUM OF GULF COAST

Super Bowl week got a little more exciting for 2012 Port Arthur Memorial graduate Elandon Roberts.

The New England Patriots’ rookie linebacker learned this week that he will be inducted into the Museum of the Gulf Coast for his early contributions to the AFC champions. Roberts told the media earlier this week during media day.

“I was in that museum and I was looking at all the player that were in there and I was just like, ‘Man, one day I want to be in here,” Roberts told KHOU-TV, which first reported the story. “I gotta do something to get in here. When my dad told me, there was kind of a pause like, wow … I did it.”

Museum director Tom Neal said his induction was approved last week and he told Roberts’ father knowing Elandon might be busy with preparations for Sunday’s Super Bowl against the Atlanta Falcons.

Defensive lineman Jonathan Babineaux of Port Arthur and kicker Matt Bryant, who both play for the Falcons, are already inducted into the hall.

A date for the induction has not been set.
