Philip Martin “Po Phil” was born in Beaumont, Texas on October 26, 1941. He departed this life on Monday, January 16, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Gloria Williams Starks and August Martin, son, Terry Linn Martin; two brothers, Patrick Martin and Eugene Martin, and granddaughter, Printess Martin.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving, devoted wife, Mrs. Velma “Mrs. Apple” Martin; sons, SFC Randy Martin, Rev. Derrick Martin, Sr. (Tuesday), Donald Guidry; daughters, Tracie Martin, Phyllis Wade (Rev. James), Tammy St. Andrew (Lawrence), 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; mother-in-law, Thelma Small; sisters, Mildred Anderson, Willie Mae Howard (Everett), Wanda Perrault (Kenneth), Shirley Owens; brothers, Lucious Martin (Sheral), Perry Martin (Tricia), Robert Starks (Pam); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Eastern Star Baptist church with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. The usher’s ritual will be at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Lloyd Scott will officiate. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
