Doyle Price Hughes

Doyle Price Hughes, 94, of Nederland, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017. He was born on January 26, 1922, to Dora Marie Rainey Hughes and Benjamin Oran Hughes.

Doyle was a United States Army veteran that served in World War II. He retired from Ameripol-Synpol after thirty-six years of service and was a member of Groves Lodge #1315 and Del Norte Lodge #105 A.F. and A.M. Doyle enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved traveling and photography.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda Felder and her husband, Jeff, of Port Acres; Betty Poplin of Groves; and Jean Heubach and her husband, Carl, of Nederland; step-daughter, Reverend Laverda Eloise Gluzek of Amarillo; step-son, David Daniels and his wife, Dawna, of Amarillo; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of forty-five years and mother of his children, Dawn Hughes; second wife of twenty-five years, Laverda Hughes; daughter, Margaret Williams; step-son, Roger Daniels; granddaughter, Jessica Boullion; one sister; and four brothers.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Hughes will be 2:00 p.m., with a gathering of family and friends to follow, Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 805 Sierra Drive, Port Neches. A burial of his cremated body, with military and masonic rites, will be held at a later date at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Hughes’ memory to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77030, or to a charity of one’s choice.
