PNPD warns of vehicle, trailer thefts

PORT NECHES — Port Neches Police are warning the public about recent increase in vehicle burglaries and thefts of trailers in the past weeks.

On Tuesday, officers responded to four auto burglaries that happened on Meadowbrook, Eveningview and Estes streets. The area is just off Nall behind Powerhouse Gym.

Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine said nothing was found to be missing so far but all of the vehicles were rummaged through either Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

Also during the last two weeks there have been thefts of utility trailers and an ATV.

Two trailers and an ATV were recovered abandoned and returned to their owners and each of those cases, the vehicles were not secured, the trailers were visible and not secured and the ATV was visible and not secured, Lemoine said.

PNPD wants to remind citizens to remove valuables and lock their vehicles. Trailers can be secured with a tongue lock and/or chain and lock.

Also, report any suspicious activity immediately to the police department.
