BPD searches for PA man on murder warrant

BEAUMONT — Beaumont Police are searching for Damarcus Deshun McGhee on murder warrant for the shooting death of another Port Arthur man.

McGhee, 20, is suspected in Tuesday’s shooting death of James Jones, 26.

Jones was found deceased while police were working on a call of a man who had been shot in the face.

Beaumont Police received a call of a man who said he’d been shot in the face around 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at Anchor Church, 6655 FM 105. The 26-year-old Port Arthur man had what police said was a single, small caliber gunshot wound to his face, according to a press release from BPD.

He told officers he was at apartments on Alpine when the incident occurred. The man was brought by Beaumont EMS to St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Officer Carol Riley said the shooting victim received non-life threatening injuries.

Officers were investigating this call when they got a call from a resident on Alpine that said they had arrived home and saw a person slumped over in a black vehicle. The man, identified as James Jones, 26, of Port Arthur, was deceased.

Police said the two incidents are related.
