Sorry for the mix-up!

Just in case you missed it, we goofed Wednesday.

In that day’s edition of the News, we accidentally printed pages 3 and 6 of the Orange Leader.

We apologize for any confusion that may have been caused for inadvertently cutting in half some very important stories that were not continued on page 3. However, we have reprinted all the stories in full in this edition.

Good work, Chief Melvin

We appreciate the work of Port Arthur Police Chief Patrick Melvin in his efforts to streamline the police force and get more officers in the ranks. As Melvin noted at the city council meeting, in a perfect world with an endless supply of money, our police department could simply hire more officers.

However, in the real world, that is not possible. But, rather than let the force remain as it is, Chief Melvin is seeking creative ways to better serve the community with the same amount of money.

We hope other department heads are as creative and as determined to serve our citizens as Chief Melvin so clearly is.
