Mauricio “Wicho” Montalvo, Jr.

Mauricio “Wicho” Montalvo, Jr. 85, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 1, 1931 to Refugia “Ruth” and Mauricio Montalvo Sr., in Brackettville, Texas. Mauricio has been a resident of the area for over 80 years. He served in the Korean Conflict in the U. S. Army. He retired from the U. S. Army Reserves and National Guard as a Master Sergeant. Mauricio retired from Gulf Oil/Chevron as a supervisor in 1991 after 30 years of service. He was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He truly loved all of his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife “Molly”, his parents, his brother Eloy and his sister Norma.

Mauricio is survived by his children, Wendy Saldana and husband Michael, Morris Montalvo and wife, Rene, Freddie Montalvo and wife, Jan, Lisa Bellow and husband, Danny, Donna Gonzales and husband, Jose. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda Nichols(Ronald), Tiffany Lavender (Corey), Tara Landry (Stanley), Tessa Brack (Cody), Morris James Montalvo II (Katie), Blake Bellow, Kirby Bellow, Zach Gonzales and Ross Gonzales and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Abel and Frank and sisters, Ruth and Irene.

And a special thank you to his caregiver Sandra for taking care of both our parents.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Burial with full military honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
