Bruce Edward McCown, 68, of Port Arthur passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at his residence.

Bruce was born on August 21, 1948 in Charleston, West Virginia to parents Harry Milton McCown and Mary Marie (Moffatt) McCown. He served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He had lived in the Port Arthur area for 35 years and retired from YorkInternational HVAC. He enjoyed watching old western movies, joking and pitching around with people. Bruce was a family man, who loved spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Hubert Moffatt; his sister, Jenny McDonnie and his beloved dog, Bailey.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Jennis McCown of Port Arthur; his son, Bradley Edward McCown of Port Arthur, Matthew Edward McCown and Candice of Katy, Daniel Edward McCown and Nicole of Groves; his brother, Lawernce Milton McCown of Florida; his sister, Becky McCown Sonner and Bud of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kylie McCown, Madison Dean and Wyatt Edward McCown.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, with Military Honors by Southeast Texas Veteran’s Service Group. Arrangements were entrusted to Clayton Thompson funeral Home.

Honor Mr. McCown as pallbearers will be Gorden Bean Jr., Douglas W. Lee, Joshua McFarland, Nhan Nguyen, Phoung Do and Brian White. Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Sanford.
