Two people were arrested for burglary after they caught the attention of a neighbor in China, Texas.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office got a 911 call about a burglary in progress in the 3000 block of North China Road in China around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A person had seen a suspicious vehicle at his neighbor’s home. He approached the vehicle and saw an unknown white man putting items into the vehicle. The neighbor confronted the suspect and the suspect fled.
The Sheriff’s Office arrived at the area and began the search for the suspect along with the patrol division, fugitive warrant division, aviation unit and Port Neches Police Department K-9 Unit, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect was caught a short time later as well as a second suspect. Both were arrested on burglary charges. Several items were recovered from the vehicle that deputies say belongs to residents.
“Thanks to the vigilant neighbor the suspects were stopped and apprehended. It is unknown whether or not the two are linked to any other burglaries,” Deputy Marcus McLellan said. “Please use caution when confronting any suspicious persons. If you see someone or something suspicious call 911 immediately and get as much information as possible.”
