GROVES — Walking through the newly opened Attic Treasures, Maggie Wilson snatched up a vintage looking holiday cookie jar with glee.

Wilson, owner of Memorable Moments by Maggie and a member of the Groves Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Center, spotted the must-have item during the ribbon cutting for Attic Treasures, an upscale thrift shop under the United Board of Missions umbrella.

“I love it,” Wilson said as she made her way to the counter to pay for the cookie jar and a Scentsy oil called Holiday Cheer. “There is a lot of upend items here. I’ll definitely be back.”

Auronica Antoine, who works at UBM, was on site to photograph the ribbon cutting and some of the items in the store and ended up doing some unexpected shopping, she said.

UBM employees Rose Pierce and Barbara Hollier greeted guests as they walked through the spacious rooms.

“We get the purses, jewelry, sun shades and other items from market and other items from donations,” Pierce said. “All proceeds go back to UBM.”
