BEAUMONT — Lamar guard Baileigh O’Dell seemed to have fun from the perimeter.

O’Dell made seven three-point baskets and shot better than 50 percent from outside the arc Sunday in leading the Cardinals to an 87-41 victory over Division III Southwestern University on Sunday.

O’Dell went 7 for 13 from three-point range and added three steals. She was 7 for 14 overall from the floor in just 21 minutes of work.

DeJa Roberts was the only other Cardinal scoring in double figures (13 points). Roberts hit 5 of 6 from the floor and was 3 for 4 from the arc.

As a team, Lamar was hot from long range, connecting on 15 of 30. The Cards finished 32 for 77 from the floor.

The Cards enjoyed two big periods, a 28-10 first quarter and 30-10 third, to separate from the Pirates, who are based in Georgetown (near Austin). They trailed just once, 2-0.

Catherine Staskawicz had 12 points, seven rebounds and two steals to lead Southwestern. She went 6 for 12 from the field.

Tori Carraway added 11 points and five rebounds for the Pirates, who were held to 16-of-52 shooting for 30.8 percent.
