• Series record: DePaul won only meeting 63-61 in Chicago on Jan. 15, 1980

• About the game: The last time Lamar and DePaul played, the Blue Demons were an independent team that was ranked No. 1 in the nation. Billy Tubbs and Ray Meyer were the opposing coaches, and Mike Olliver and Mark Aguirre were the opposing standouts. DePaul also was a Final Four team the previous year. … Flash forward almost 37 years, and both teams have winning records but are trying to come off defeats. DePaul, a Big East team coached by former Virginia head man Dave Leitao, dropped its last game Saturday at metro-Chicago rival Northwestern 80-64, missing out on a signature win. Lamar has lost two straight (Idaho State and San Francisco) each by double-digits and closes out a four-game road swing tonight. … Lamar junior forward Colton Weisbrod leads the Southland Conference in rebounding at 10.3 per game to go with a 16.7-point per game average.  His last time out, he poured 24 on San Francisco. Sophomore guard Nick Garth (11.4 ppg) is still hot off the bench. … The Demons have a strong trio of guards, each of whom average double-figure scoring: Eli Cain (19.2), Billy Garrett (12.2) and Darrick Wood (11.8). — I.C.
