Groves police search for man who almost struck officers

GROVES — Groves police is asking the publics help in locating a man who they say almost struck officers before leading them on a chase last week.

Decobi Kaylnn Miles, 18, of Port Arthur, was stopped for speeding by police Sunday, Nov. 6 in the 2500 block of Main Avenue and officers learned he has an active warrant for his arrest, according to information from the Groves Police Department.

When officers tried to get him out of the vehicle, he put his vehicle in reverse in an attempt to flee. He then accelerated rapidly and hit the front of a patrol unit, narrowly missing the officers.

Police pursued the man for a while then lost track of him due to his speed.

He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant, a first-degree felony. Bond for each charge is $100,000.

He is also charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle, a third degree felony, with a $10,000 bond.
