Edna “Merle” Broyles, 95, of Battle Ground, Washington, formerly of Nederland, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016. She was born on June 25, 1921, in Port Arthur, to Maude Landry Root and Charles B. Root.

Survivors include her son, Robert Broyles and his wife, Debbie; grandson, Frank Broyles; and granddaughter, Rebecca Broyles, all of Battleground, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Bubba” Broyles; and sister, Beve Lovell.

A gathering of Mrs. Broyles’ family and friends was held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12^th Street, Nederland. Her graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, 101 Block Street, Port Neches.
