Ship tragedy remembered 50 years later

- The 50th anniversary of the explosion, fire and sinking of the S/S Gulfstag was commemorated on Monday at the Port Arthur International Seafarers' Center. The Rev. Sinclair Oubre gave the welcome to the event and the background of the ship. Capt. Larry La Rue, captain of the Gulfstag 50 years ago, looks on. The only memento found from the ship is a life vest with the ship's name on it.
