LU tennis wins two titles in Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Lamar women’s tennis team saw two players win individual titles at the University of West Florida Invitational that wrapped up on Saturday as Anna Spengler earned the crown at Flight 2, while Hanna Elfving took home top honors in Flight 4.
Spengler outlasted Ceci Mercier of Southland Conference rival Southeastern Louisiana in a marathon 7-5, 4-6, 18-16 match. Spengler reached the finals by rallying for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 victory over Heather Mixon of host West Florida earlier in the day in the semifinals.
Elfving won in straight sets over Teona Tatishvilli of Palm Beach Atlantic by scores of 6-2, 6-4. Elfving reached the finals with a comeback 5-7, 6-2, 10-8 win over Sarah Eutinger of Southeastern Louisiana in the semifinals on Saturday morning.
