GROVES — A Port Arthur man is facing charges for family violence and pointing a rifle at three people following a disturbance on Wednesday.
Groves City Marshal Norman Reynolds Jr. said they received a call of a “rolling disturbance” just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the apartment complex, 5501 West Washington.
Officers were told that a black man wearing a black shirt and khakis had a shotgun, later identified as a rifle. He was in a vehicle with his girlfriend, who lives at the complex, and another couple and allegedly pointed the rifle at the people in the car then ran off when someone called police.
He stashed the rifle in some bushes and began to run towards the rear of the complex and nearby Snooper’s Paradise and was detained by police.
The girlfriend of the suspect was not cooperative with officer and the suspect denied any knowledge of having a firearm, Reynolds said.
The woman was later taken into custody on Port Arthur warrants.
The suspect, identified as Devin Green, 22, of Port Arthur, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and family violence.
