Bernard Alexander, Sr., a native of Sorrell, LA and longtime resident of Port Arthur, TX passed away at his home on Thursday, September 29, 2016.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Emily Polidore Alexander; sons, Bernard Alexander, Jr., Charleston Alexander, James Lee Alexander and Coleman Guy Alexander (deceased); daughters, Carolyn Ann Alexander and Felicia Alexander-Branch; a sister, Clara Mae Berry; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elnora Hernandez and Alice Marie Broussard; brother-in-law, Clarence Widow, Sr.; special friend and daughter-in-law, Doris Jean; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church, 548 E. 15^th Street, Port Arthur, TX with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. Rev. L.W. Scott, Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
