Janet Marie Sons, 85, of Port Arthur, died Monday, September 26, 2016 in Port Arthur. Mrs. Sons is a native and lifelong resident of Port Arthur. She was employed in the bookkeeping department of First National Bank and later retired from the First Bank & Trust in 1989. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Mrs. Sons was a 1949 graduate of Bishop Byrne High School where she was a cheerleader and after her graduation she attended Lamar University. On January 6, 1951 she married Ronald Sons and together they enjoyed fishing, camping and reading. Mrs. Sons was an active member of the Thomas Jefferson High School Band Boosters. She always enjoyed being involved in her children’s activities.

Mrs. Sons was preceded in death by her parents, Wilber “Bud” & Eva Domengeaux. Her survivors include her husband Ronald Sons of Port Arthur; two sons, Steve (Deborah) Sons of Vidor and Ron “Scooter” Sons of Lumberton; a daughter, Ronna (Gene) Winchester of Lufkin; one brother Henry Lee (Mary) Domengeaux of Sulphur, LA; five grandchildren, Shanna Marie Siple of Lufkin, Steve “Buddy” Sons of Lumberton, Hollie Ann Sons of Vidor, Carlos Wade Sons of Vidor, Trent Joseph Sons of Lumberton and five great grandchildren.

The Family will receive friends on Thursday September 29, 2016 at Grammier – Oberle Funeral Home from 5:00 – 8:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:30PM. A Mass of The Holy Resurrection will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, September 30, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church. The interment will follow the Mass in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
