Phoebe Sheffield Rose West

Phoebe Sheffield Rose West, 85, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016. She was born on October 22, 1930, in Dallas, to Phoebe Margaret Widen Sheffield and Stephen Bailey Sheffield.

Phoebe was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Lumberton. She was an LVN at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland for over twenty years. Phoebe enjoyed playing golf and tennis. She will be remembered as an excellent cook.

Survivors include her daughters, Cherylyn Cooper and her husband, John; Christine Stobart and her husband, George III, all of Lumberton; and Colleen Neathery of Dallas; grandchildren, Merri, Dana, David, Joe, Julie, Beth, Tracy, Jennifer, Buck, Elizabeth, Kathi, John Allen, and their respective spouses; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and former spouse and co-owner of Rose Coastal Funeral Home in Winnie, Cecil Rose. She will be especially missed by her faithful four legged companion, Chester.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of twenty-one years, Ralph West.

A gathering of Mrs. West’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2016, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, 101 Block Street, Port Neches.

Memorial contributions may be  made in Mrs. West’s memory to Humane Society of Southeast Texas P.O. Box 1629, Beaumont, Texas 77704.
