James Rodney Cox, 81, of Vidor, passed away Tuesday August 16, 2016

He was born in Sabasapal, MS to his parents, Henry Ivan Cox and Mary Elizabeth Scott Cox. He was raised in Uvalde and San Antonio in the 1950’s. He was a union carpenter, Local 610 and 502. He was also a roofer. Rodney was called “Slipclutch” on jobs.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Cox; sisters, Lorraine Cook and Shirley Miller.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia Cox of Vidor; children, James D. Cox and wife, ShawMarie of Vidor, Lisa Cox Teinert and husband, Allen of Orangefield, Lorri Chatloch, James D. Chatloch, and Ronald Chatloch; grandchildren, Brandon Taylor, Christopher Teinert, James A. Cox all of Vidor, Alisa Teinert Villafano of Orangefield; great grandchildren, Shea Johnston, Emma Taylor, Lauren Taylor, Coale Taylor, Noah Teinert and Caden Bunner all of Vidor; sisters, Margaret Moore and Patricia Melvin and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family would like to express their thankfulness to the staff at Harbor Hospice, Christus St. Elizabeth and to our Faithful Prayer Partners.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at New Life Church on the Rock, 3116 N. Main Street, Vidor, Texas, officiated by Pastor Chris Issac.
