On August 11, 2016, Mary Frances Rogers Pardue concluded a life enveloped by the grace of God. Born on February 10, 1929 to Granville and Alma Rogers, Mary lived in Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma. She was a long-time resident of Port Arthur, Texas. She was married to the love of her life, James Wiley Pardue, for 59 years until his death in 2007. Mary and Jim raised seven children; Kathy, Kay, Steve, Keith, Pat, Dan, and Dawn. Mary was her church’s pianist for most of her life, helped Jim to lead a prison choir, and gave piano lessons to many children and adults. As Mary is preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, and a great-granddaughter, she is survived by her sister, seven children, seventeen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. All these bore witness to the grace and peace that Mary embodied to her family, in her church, and with everyone she met. Mary loved Jesus, her family, and her church. She took delight in raising plants & animals, loved to laugh, and made the world’s best fried chicken and French fries.
A memorial service for Mary will be held at Grace Church of the Nazarene in Port Arthur, Texas on Sat., Sept. 3 at 4:00 p.m. Family will be there at 3:00 p.m. to visit with friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Grace Church of the Nazarene, 4601 Rice Farm Road, Port Arthur, TX, 77642 in Mary’s memory.
