BEAUMONT — Beaumont Police and Child Protective Services are investigating the drowning death of a 3-year-old boy at a motel pool.

The child, identified as Romilio Madina, was in the pool at Super 8 Motel, 1110 Interstate 10, South, with his mother’s friends around 8 p.m. when they found him at the bottom of the pool unresponsive, according to a press release form Beaumont Police Department.

Beaumont Fire and EMS arrived on scene and the child was transported to Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth in Beaumont where he died shortly after.

Beaumont Police Juvenile Detectives and CPS are investigating the death.
