Rita “Cookie” Lewis

Rita “Cookie” Lewis, 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Vitas Innovative Hospice in Conroe, Texas.

Cookie was born on October 30, 1929 in Port Arthur to parents Edith (Marshand) and Vernon J. Heriard. She was a near lifelong resident of Port Arthur, living the last three years with loving family in Spring, Texas. She was a bookkeeper for many years; she retired from the Holiday Inn after 10 years of employment. Cookie loved her country, enjoyed bingo, her computer and watching sports, especially the Astros and the Cowboys. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her much joy and were the delight of her later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, J. W. Broussard; second husband, Marvin Lewis; her son, Thomas Lynn Broussard; her daughter, Sandra Kay Broussard; her grandson, Danny Daigle.

Those left to cherish to Cookie’s memory are her sons, Tim Broussard of Rockport, TX, Mark Allen Broussard and wife, Kitsy of Spring; daughter, Denise Lewis Frantz and husband, Will of Port Arthur; sister, Bonnie Stansbury of Nederland. She also is survived by five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 beginning at 10 AM with a rosary to be prayed 11 AM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. A Christian Burial Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:30 AM, Rev J. C. Coon will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
