Harry Conner Sport

Harry Conner Sport, 89, of Groves, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 16, 1926 to Marguerite (Maggie) Boudreaux Sport and Harry C. Sport, Sr. in Port Arthur, Texas.  Harry has been a longtime resident of the area.  He served in the U.S. Army Engineers with the 34th Combat Engineers during WWII. Harry retired from Fina (Total) as a process operator.  He was a member of the O.C.A.W. Local 4-23 since 1948.  Harry was a proud Charter member of the Pea Patch Association (Port Groves Golf Club).

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Venus Mazur and Delores Blanchard, his brother, Vernon Cram and his beloved wife, Bonnie Jean Tanner Sport.  Harry is survived by his four daughters, Terry Sport Young of Luling, Louisiana, Paula Sport of Groves, Texas, Holly Sport Strahan of Odessa, Texas and Lisa Sport Dulaney of Nederland, Texas, and his son, Clay Sport of Groves, Texas along with ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Harry’s  life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
