1917 – 2016

Wynona Kathryn Watkins Petit passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 20, 2016 in League City, Texas at the age of 98.

Wynona was born on December 24, 1917 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Lucille May Hollingsworth Watkins and John Henry Watkins. She moved with her family to Port Isabel, Texas in 1929. She married the late Louis R. Petit, Sr. in 1936 and moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 1938. She was a member of Aldersgate – Trinity United Methodist Church since 1947 and a life member of Port Arthur Chapter 262 Order of Eastern Star. In 1999, she moved to Friendswood, Texas. She was a devoted mother and did volunteer work at her church and with the Gray Ladies at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur.

She is survived by two sons, Louis R. Petit, Jr. and wife Martha of Texas City; David J. Petit and wife Felicia of Dickinson; a daughter, June DeJong of Metairie, Louisiana; one sister, Naomi Martens of New Braunfels; 4 grandchildren Jeanne Colleen Payne, Rachel Petit Jasso, Adam Petit and Mark Eiserloh; and 7 great grandchildren, Alexis Klein, Jeanne Marie Petit, Michaelann Payne, Arwen Jasso, Logan Jasso, Connor Petit, Adrian Petit, and Wayne Estrade, Jr.
