A Port Arthur man is behind bars for the murder of another man at an apartment complex on Tuesday.
Patrick Louis Guidry, 35, was found dead with a stab wound to the neck around 9:30 a.m. at Port Arthur Park Apartments, 1348 Jefferson Drive. The call was initially dispatched for a “throat cut,” Port Arthur Police Sgt. Scott Gaspard said.
Police arrested Paris Lynn Bennette Jr., 27, for the crime around 1 p.m. Tuesday.
“His family brought him (Bennette) to the police station,” Gaspard said. “He was interviewed by investigators but I cannot comment on what was said.”
Police said there were witnesses who saw the two men together when the murder happened.
Police do not know the motive for the crime at this point and they have no reason to believe the murder was related to drugs or gangs, he said.
This marks the second murder in the city this year.
On Feb. 21, former Port Arthur Police Officer Chris Jeffries, 47, was found dead from gunshot wounds in his home in the 2200 block of Glenwood. His girlfriend, Ethel Marie Eulian, also known as Ethel Marie Prior, was charged with the murder.
