Levar Willis added to women’s hoops staff

BEAUMONT — Lamar women’s basketball coach Robin Harmony added Levar Willis to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Willis comes to LU from fellow Southland Conference member Southeastern Louisiana, where he spent the past two seasons as associate head coach.
Willis, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Morris Brown College in 2004 and a master’s degree in athletic coaching education from West Virginia University in 2009, got his coaching start at Brandon University in Manitoba, where he served as an assistant coach of a squad that won the Great Plains Conference championship.
Willis has also held assistant coaching positions at Atlanta Metropolitan College, West Virginia Tech, Clark Atlanta University and LSU-Eunice. He has also been on the staffs of the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA, St. Francis High School in Alpharetta, Ga., and the W.P. Celtics AAU team in Atlanta.
The West Virginia Tech squad won the Mid-South Conference title, while LSU-Eunice captured the Miss-Lou Conference crown in 2014 after posting a 26-3 record. St. Francis won the 2013 Georgia Class A state championship.
In his career, Willis has recruited 17 all-conference selections, including one All-America selection.
