Mrs. Tessie Young – Burrel was born to Rosie Young on Dec. 14, 1951 in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. She was a resident of Port Arthur, Texas for 46 years.
Mrs. Burrel was an active and faithful member of Rock Island Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board, Mission Worker and a member of the Mass Choir.
Mrs. Burrel retired from Huntsman Refinery in 2000. Then she pursued her passion in Tee’s Catering where she is known in the community for her famous cooking.
Mrs. Burrel departed her life on earth Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, TX.
Mrs. Burrel is survived by her loving family: husband of 44 years Terry J. Burrel Sr., son Tracy and spouse Marcia Burrel of Austin, TX and son Terry J. and spouse RoShanda Burrel II of Katy, TX. She is also survived by six beautiful grandchildren. Also survived by sister Dora Minnex, Port Arthur, TX., and brothers; Frank Young and Dr. Rev. Johnny Young Sr. and spouse Emma Young of Shreveport, LA. As well as, aunts; Alma Thibodeaux and Mary Jean Young both of Port Arthur, TX and multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
A heart felt thank you to Mrs. Lenora Jacobs of Orange, TX, for constant support of Mrs. Burrel during her time of need.
~ With up most compassion and love Tessie accepted us all, by showing each of us the joy and pride she held for us all. She taught us all how to love and accept one another. We now will continue to feel her presence and miss her dearly. The traits she installed in us will forever be apart of us all, and never would fade from our hearts ~
Mrs. Burrel’s life celebrations will be at 11 am Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Rock Island Baptist Church, lead by Pastor Ransom E. Howard Sr. at 549 W. 11th St. Port Arthur, TX. Visitation service will take place start at 9 am. Final resting place will be held at Green Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
