Elnora Parker Comeaux

Elnora Parker Comeaux transitioned from this life on May 1, 2016 in Katy, Texas. She was 89 years old.  “Chookie” was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur, Texas. However, she resided in Houston, Texas for the past 8 years. She became a believer In the Lord Jesus Christ at a very young age and her faith was a focal point of her life. As a young girl, she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. She was employed by St. Mary’s Hospital, Park Place Hospital, and the Port Arthur Independent School District, from which she retired in June 1991. She was a devout member of the First Sixth Street Baptist Church where she participated in several women’s organizations.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother and she had a “passion for fashion”. She was well regarded by family and friends alike.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph L. and Elnora L. Parker; her husband Alfred T. Comeaux; children Tommy Carl, Aristle, and Veronica Comeaux; One grandson, Roderick L. Simpson; brothers William and Joseph Parker; sisters Anne Johnson, Beulah Carriere, Selma Hardage, Geneva Parker, Jessie Mae Beckett.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Marie C. Floyd (Donald) of Port Arthur, Texas; Alfred A. Comeaux, Elaine M. Comeaux, Donald O. Comeaux (Eloise), Alvincent Comeaux (Tamiko),and Rudy Paul Comeaux all of Houston, Texas. One sister, Lottie Mae Reado of Port Arthur, Texas. 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday May 7, 2016 at First Sixth Street Baptist Church, 548 Lincoln Avenue, Port Arthur, TX.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
