John Dudley Wallace, Jr., 90, of Groves, Texas passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016.

John was born March 3, 1926 in Orange, Texas to John Dudley Wallace, Sr. and Gladys Myrtle Harbert Wallace. He was a resident of Groves for 60 years and member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a retired carpenter and former business agent for Carpenters Local 610, and was a member of Groves Masonic Lodge 1315.

John proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Wallace.

Survivors include two daughters, Lalona Saunders and her husband Roy of Chesapeake, VA, Jerri McCown of Groves, TX; two sons, John D. Wallace III and his wife Alyson of Kingwood, TX, Don Wallace and his wife Vicki of Boca Raton, FL; eight grandchildren, Savannah Gibson, Sarah Hewett, Ashley Saunders, Madison Wallace, Hillary Wallace, Justine Wallace, Matthew Wallace, Sean Wallace; three great-grandchildren, Corlen, Olivia, and Corinne.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Travis Cox officiating. A Masonic service will be conducted by Groves Masonic Lodge 1315. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
