The Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks outhit Baton Rouge Community College 14-4 and got a three-run shot from Bailey Suza on Sunday to take a 7-4 victory and finish the regular season with a winning record.
That win, which snapped a four-game skid, came after the Seahawks (28-26) took a 5-3 defeat from Baton Rouge in the first game of a doubleheader.
Suza’s shot drove in Nicole Thorn and Kayla Sheridan and built on a 1-0 lead in the second. Baton Rouge clawed back with two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings, but Sheridan’s triple and Suza’s single in the sixth would eventually set the final score.
Suza finished with four RBI. Sheridan and Sanchez each knocked three runs. Alexis Perez, Thorn and Suza had two hits apiece.
Madison Ohler (3-3) held Baton Rouge to three hits in four innings for the win. Angelica Rogers worked the last three innings to pick up her second save of the season.
In the first game, Perez smacked a two-run homer and Suza doubled, but Baton Rouge overcame four errors in picking up the win. Brooke Wilhelm and Clarissa Morena each had two hits for the Seahawks.
Both teams had eight hits in Game 1. LSCPA committed two errors.
