Indians move into sole possession of first

PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves Indians are now a full game ahead of the District 22-5A pack after an 11-0 win over Ozen Saturday.
The Indians jumped into sole possession of first place with the win coupled by Goose Creek Memorial’s 7-2 loss to Vidor Friday.
PN-G (16-6, 11-1) got strong pitching performances from both starter Ryan Leckich and relief pitcher Dylan McGough.
Leckich threw three of the five innings and gave up one hit with eight strikeouts. McGough threw the final two innings and allowed no runs and no walks with two strikeouts.
Leckich was 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored and two RBI and Austin Bost was 1 for 2 with a run scored and two RBI. Nathan Vidrine finished 1 for 3 with two runs and a RBI and Cole Girouard scored two runs.
PN-G travels to face Central at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Indians host Vidor to end the regular season at 6 p.m. Friday.
