A graveside service for J. David Moore, 64, of Jasper will be 11:00 am Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Christian Cemetery in Nacogdoches, TX under the arrangement of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.

Mr. Moore died March 23, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

David was a native of Port Neches where he practiced law for both the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and in private practice. He retired in Jasper, TX. Big Dave, as many knew him, was quick to give advice if he felt it was needed. He was a shoulder for many to lean on and an ear to speak to, but mostly he was one to give the advice that no one else could give. He will be missed by many, including his loving family, friends and those who looked to him as a father figure.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents Oscar F. and Verline Crawford Moore of Port Neches.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sonya Harper Moore of Jasper; daughter Laura Beth Vietor and husband Mike of Vienna, VA; son Colin Moore and wife Molly of Beaumont; son Lance Parks and wife Kelly of Dickinson; sisters Janice Cooley of Woodville and Connie Lindsey of Lumberton; grandchildren Oscar and Libby Vietor of Vienna VA, James and Bodie Moore of Beaumont, and Harrison, Sullivan and CC Parks of Dickinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jasper Area Humane Society, PO Box 1104, Jasper TX 75951.
