Mrs. Julia Francis Minix

Mrs. Julia Francis Minix was the fourth child born to Wilfred Francis, Sr. and Lottie Roy Francis on June 20, 1931 in Beaumont, Texas. She transitioned peacefully in her home Saturday, March 12, 2016.

Mrs. Minix was a 1950 graduate of Hebert High School. While attending Hebert, she developed a passion for sewing and became well known in the community as a seamstress. Julia was a wonderful housewife and mother. She was married for 58 years to Enous Minix before his passing in December 2012. She is also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Philomena Simon and Louanna Nixon, and brother, P.J. Francis.

She is survived by brothers, Matthew (Mary) Francis of Beaumont; Wilfred (Azzie Nell) Francis of Modesto, CA; and John (Rose) Francis of Ft. Worth, TX. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Dianne (Kenneth) Marks and Judith (Dallas) Smith, both of Port Arthur; a niece whom she raised, Phyllis (Christopher) Bright of Union City, CA.; and four grandchildren, Lauren (Lamar) Quinn, Jordan (Chelsea) Marks, Jalyn Smith (fiancé, Marcus Roberson) and Dallas Smith III; grandnieces, Natalie and Camille Bright; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Williams. She will be fondly remembered and missed by many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 19, 2016 at Douglas Memorial CME Church, 1370 Ewing St. in Beaumont, TX.
