LU women golfers lead after 1 round

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — The Lamar women’s golf team turned in a dominating performance on the first day of the Bulldog Invitational on Monday.
Led by Wenny Chang, who fired a 3-under-par 69 for the individual lead, the Cardinals posted a team score of 7-over-par 295 to build a 12-stroke lead over Wofford College and Appalachian State heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Chang wasn’t the only Cardinal to perform well on the 6,026-yard, par-72 layout at Patriot Point Links, as all five LU golfers were in the top 20 in the 57-player field. Taylor Stockton is alone in fourth place after a 1-over 73, Olivia Le Roux is in a tie for eight at 4-over 76, Felicia Sauceda is tied for 11 at 5-over 77 and Kura Poko is tied for 20th after posting a 7-over-par 79.
