Tenaha ends Sabine Pass’ season

WOODVILLE — The Sabine Pass Sharks’ dream season came to an abrupt end Thursday night in the Class 2A area round against the Tenaha Tigers.

The Tigers eliminated the Sharks 92-62 and move on to the Region III quarterfinals. Sabine Pass finished the season 16-8 under coach Trey Harvey, doubling their win total from last year.

The Sharks got down 23-14 after the first quarter and trailed 45-31 at the half. Things did not get any better in the second half for Sabine Pass, as the Tigers (11-6) outscored the Sharks 21-10 in the third and 26-21 in the fourth.

Daniel Sam led the Sharks with 23 points on 10-of-25 shooting. Sam also pulled down nine rebounds and blocked three shots.

Brandon Miller scored 16 points while teammate Jamyus Jones put in 14 points. Jones also grabbed five boards.

Sabine Pass was 6 of 12 from the free throw line but was a dismal 6 of 25 from behind the arc. The Sharks grabbed 26 rebounds and turned the ball over 15 times.
