BEAUMONT – Iliass Aouani swept through all the awards he was eligible for and Silvia La Tella added in the Female Freshman of the Year honor for the Lamar track and field teams when the Southland Conference announced its indoor track and field awards.

Aouani was up for the league’s male Athlete, Outstanding Track Performer and Freshman of the Year honors, and he took them all. He had an outstanding performance at the indoor championships on Feb. 15-16 with two individual titles and was the anchor leg for the champion distance medley team.

He is LU’s third straight Southland Conference Indoor Athlete and Outstanding Performer after Sam Stabler took the awards in both 2014 and 2015. He was also the league’s high point scorer for the third straight season as well (22.5 points).
