PREPS ROUNDUP: Sam, Sabine Pass stay hot

SABINE PASS — For the fourth time in five games, a Sabine Pass player has scored 30 or more points.
It’s helped lead the Sharks to victory each time.
Daniel Sam netted 30 points, Jamyus Jones nearly recorded a quadruple-double, and the Sharks took a 91-40 boys basketball home win over Colmesneil on Friday night, their second-largest margin of victory this season.
Sam had seven steals and six rebounds in the win. It was his first 30-point game since hanging 33 against Bob Hope on Jan. 19.
Jones, who had 31-point performances against Hull-Daisetta (Jan. 22) and West Hardin (on Tuesday), was a pretty busy Shark himself. He added 12 assists, nine rebounds and seven steals. Jamal Dorsey finished with 11 points.
Sabine Pass (13-6, 6-3) visits Evadale on Tuesday for a second-place battle in District 24-2A with three games remaining. Evadale won the last meeting 79-71 in Sabine Pass on Jan. 15.
The Sharks will visit Bob Hope next Friday.
LA PORTE 72, PA MEMORIAL 55
LA PORTE — Memorial’s six-game winning streak came to an end on the road Friday. No statistics were available.
The result North Shore (7-2) into first place in District 21-6A with its win over Deer Park on Friday. Memorial (13-12, 7-3) is now a half-game behind with two district games remaining.
Memorial won the girls game 58-39 over La Porte in Port Arthur on Friday.
BOYS SOCCER
PN-G 3, LUMBERTON 1
LUMBERTON — The Port Neches-Groves Indians remained undefeated in District 22-5A with a 3-1 victory over Lumberton Friday.
The Indians got a goal from Gunnar Nicholson, Koby Jones and Colton Stone. Jones also had two assists and Nicholson had the third.
Bryce Meche finished with six saves.
PN-G is now 8-1-3 on the year and 2-0-1 in the district standings heading into Tuesday’s home match against Nederland.
NEDERLAND 0, CENTRAL 0
NEDERLAND — The Nederland Bulldogs played the Central Jaguars to a 0-0 tie Friday.
Bulldogs (5-2-4, 2-0-1) coach Torrey Gomez said the team fought through periods of stretches when things were “not clicking” for his team.
Anthony Drago was credited with the clean sheet.
DEER PARK 1, PA MEMORIAL 0
In Port Arthur, Clint Hoverson’s Memorial Titans were in a 0-0 tie with the Deer Park Deer with just over 2 minutes left in the match when disaster struck.
The Titans’ keeper was injured. With 2 minutes left, Deer Park scored the match’s only goal to win 1-0. Memorial (0-2) did receive 11 saves from keeper Arturo Villarreal, whom Hoverson named Man of the Match.
Memorial lost 2-0 to Channelview on Tuesday. Lizandro Nunez had 10 saves that match.
The Titans travel to face Baytown Sterling on Tuesday.
GIRLS SOCCER
LUMBERTON 4, PN-G 1
PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians suffered a big setback Friday against Lumberton.
The Lady Raiders handed the Lady Indians their first District 22-5A loss with a 4-1 win at The Reservation.
PN-G (7-4-1, 2-1-0) got its lone goal from junior Hailey Loupe, who got the score off an assist from Jillian Flores.
PN-G travels to face the Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday.
DEER PARK 5, PA MEMORIAL 0
DEER PARK — Coach Phil Mattingly said his team played hard despite missing four starters. Memorial is now 1-5-3 overall and 0-1-1 in District 21-5A play.
