A Port Arthur woman was flown to a Galveston hospital for second and third degree burns following an apartment fire Sunday afternoon.

Port Arthur Firefighters responded to the call about 4:45 p.m. Sunday at Crystal Creek Apartments, 7963 Honeywood Trail, Battalion Chief Jeremy Holland said.

The woman was able to get out of her apartment but some of her clothing caught fire as she was leaving and she suffered burns. She was flown to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston for treatment and her condition is unknown at this time.

The apartment is a loss but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby units.
