When your name or image is on the title card of a video game, your star is really shining.

Such is the case with Jamaal Charles.

One of Port Arthur’s native sons has entered the video game world with Thursday’s release of “Football Unleashed Jamaal Charles,” an app that’s available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. The game is developed by Distinctive Games, which specializes in sports-themed games solely for mobile platforms.

“Football Unleashed Jamaal Charles is a true arcade football game that delivers action-packed gameplay and amazing visuals,” Nigel Little, the game’s managing director, said in a release. “We are incredibly excited to launch this, our latest arcade sports game.”

Little added: “It is an honor to work with such a talented and professional sports person. His determination and energy speaks for itself and is something we really captured in this game.”

Charles, a star running back with the Kansas City Chiefs, could not be immediately reached for comment.

The gameplay, according to the release, includes 5-on-5 action and “power-ups” including earthquakes, “iron man” and “D-Fence” to enhance the action as Charles guides gamers. There are also no flags or personal fouls in the game, and gamers can draft key players to boost their teams as well.

“Incredibly immersive exaggerated reality visuals let you feel every hustle, hit and touchdown giving you the ultimate football experience,” the release stated.

It was not indicated if any other players or imagery from the NFL is included in the game. But former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis has his own Football Unleashed Game with Distinctive.

Charles missed the remainder of this season following an ACL tear in a Week 5 loss to the Chicago Bears. The Chiefs won 11 straight after a 1-5 start, including a 30-0 win at Houston in the AFC Wild Card round, before losing 27-20 at New England in the AFC divisional playoff.

A Distinctive spokesperson said the company is hoping to make Charles’ video game available on Android by next week.
