Prep Roundup: Memorial girls bounce La Porte

LA PORTE — The Port Arthur Memorial Lady Titans overcame the huge injury to star Jakeira Ford Tuesday with a 39-32 win over the La Porte Lady Bulldogs.

Autumn Jones scored a game-high 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting. She had two assists, two rebounds and three steals.

The Lady Titans (15-8, 5-1) outscored the Lady Bulldogs (2-12, 0-4) 7-1 in the first quarter and held an 18-7 lead at the break. Memorial then won the third 16-15 before holding off a late La Porte rally.

Channel Hamilton and Teliah Joyce each scored eight points for Memorial while Victoria Brown and Kennedi Lofton had five points. Lofton led the Lady Titans with eight rebounds and Joyce had a team-high four assists.

Rebekah Atilano had nine points for La Porte.

The Lady Titans play host to Baytown Sterling at 7 p.m. Friday.

SABINE PASS 84, COLMESNEIL 41

COLMESNEIL — Daniel Sam, Brandon Miller and Dominique Wilson combined for nearly two-thirds of the Sharks’ scoring Tuesday in a 43-point victory over the Bulldogs.

Sam finished with a game-high 23 points, Miller knocked down 22 and Wilson added 12 for Sabine Pass (9-6, 2-1).

Kameron Lindsey had 16 points and Isaac Dinger added 10 for Colmesneil.

LITTLE CYPRESS — The Port Arthur Memorial Lady Titans opened their 2016 soccer season with a 3-0 win over the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears.
Memorial (1-0) gets back on the field Thursday at the Port Neches-Groves Tournament.
