PORT NECHES — The Nederland Bulldogs notched their first victory of the young season Saturday with a 2-0 victory over the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks in the Port Neches-Groves Kickoff Classic.

Travis Wiedenfeld assisted Jace Edgar for a Nederland goal and also dished to Jaime Moreno for the other Bulldogs score. Goalkeeper Anthony Drago was credited with the shutout.

Hamshire-Fannett travels to Nederland (1-1-1) to face the Bulldogs at 6 p.m. Friday.

Also Saturday, Port Neches-Groves defeated Lufkin Hudson 2-1.

Clear Creek 4, PA Memorial 0

FRIENDSWOOD — The Port Arthur Memorial Titans are still searching for its first win of the season after a 4-0 loss to Clear Creek on Saturday at the Pearland-Pasadena Tournament. The match was played at Friendswood High School.

Coach Clint Hoverson reported Roberto Guzman was to be noted for his play during the game.

Goalkeeper Arturo Villarreal had 12 saves in the loss and the Titans were outshot 15-6 in the match.

The Titans start the Galena Park tournament on Thursday.

GIRLS

Ridge Point 3, Port Neches-Groves 0

COLLEGE STATION — The Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians fell 3-0 to the Ridge Point Lady Panthers to finish off the College Station tournament.

The Lady Indians are now 1-2-1 on the season.

Coach Aimee Bates said several starters for the Lady Indians were out of the game, so PN-G was playing amid having to make adjustments to its formation.

PN-G returns to the field Monday at The Reservation to face Bob Hope. The JV match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
