ORANGE COUNTY — A Groves man is recovering from a one vehicle accident that occurred in Orange County on Sunday.

The wreck occurred at about 11:50 a.m. Dec. 20 on Texas 62 and FM 105, according to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A 2006 Toyota pickup truck was traveling southbound on Texas 62. The driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway. As the vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right, the side of the pickup truck clipped a utility pole and the impact with the utility pole caused the vehicle to spin into a building and flip over onto its top.
The driver of the vehicle, Stanley Brumfield, 79, of Groves, was trapped inside the vehicle for several minutes before being removed by emergency personnel. He was transported by medical helicopter to Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth. Brumfield sustained several broken bones, but is expected to recover.
This crash is still under investigation, but Troopers suspect that speed contributed to this crash.
